Self-reacting frames and beds
Self-reacting bed for U-shaped bridge beams
This casting bed has self-reacting size-forms for 4 types of U-shaped bridge beams.
The longest element is 15m and has 48 strands:
- 22 x 21T with 75mm eccentricity
- 22 x 21T with 125mm eccentricity
- 4 x 21T with 2m eccentricity
The total stressing force of 1000T is divided over both the bed and the sides. The top of the sides can accommodate a frame onto which 2 modular open core forms can be suspended. These frames resist to the lateral forces applied on the side-forms by the fresh concrete and prevent the buckling of the bed.
The casting bed can be used without the side-forms, when doing so, the maximum load is limited at 600T with 400mm eccentricity
